There's Something About Revlon Mad About Mango!

Revlon Scented Nail Polish - Mad about Mango

As I am still in my coral craze phase- I cant resist a pretty coral- Its been a while since I had this- but its a funny story- here it goes...
So even when I had a similar more orangey 'siren' (also from revlon) I still had my eyes on this one..... so after much internal reasoning about how I did not need this......dilly-dallying.... wishfully looking at my thumb swatch for a few days- how pretty coral it looked-  I decided I had to get one myself. Now when I went to my neighbourhood shop (who gives some discount on all my beauty buys) it was out of stock.... ditto on my next visit.... Suddenly I had to have it...U all know this- when its hard to get- its suddenly so much more desirable!!! Applies to boyfriends, girlfriends, the last pair of shoes in you like, that dress you were eyeing just when some girl takes it........ and also some pretty Nail polish too!:P
So on my next visit to the mall- I finally laid my hands on this precious bottle.
RIP!

 Price- Rs. 150

 Quantity- 8ml

 What does the company Say:
Revlon’s exclusive silk-protein shield works to instantly help even out the surface of the nail while rising above color to automatically smooth away bubbles, streaks and brush marks. UV absorbers protect color – ensuring it won’t fade during wear.

Available in 16 shades.

 Swatches:
Revlon Mad About Mango- 2 coats

Revlon Mad about Mango- With flash

Indoor Light

 Yay's

  • A pretty shade- in trend and would suit most indian skin tones.
  • Reasonable at Rs150
  • Scented- Though I wonder how it helps anyone..... perhaps if u like smelling ur nails?! ewwww

 Nay's

  • The formula and/or the brush is disappointing..... streaky application mars the final effect
  • I like the colour it gives in one coat(but its streaky) and on second coat- its more neon than I would like-u can see it is more neon than it appears in the bottle.

Last Word:
Love the colour but I wish the formula was better- and please get rid of that awful brush! Life is too short to waste on  trying to reapply the same nail thrice!!! Although I found the normal version's similar brush working ok.... so maybe its just the formula!

Never Hide !!! Lotus Multi-function Sunblock SPF-70 PA+++

Lotus Multi-function Sunblock SPF-70 PA+++

With the sun rays already getting hot and harsh - one can't always have enough sun-protection.
Especially if you have skin that easliy tans and burns.......
With the indian sun - I often feel SPF 40 if a lil less..... so this newer sunblock seemed like the better version of my trusted Lotus 3in1 matte look daily sunblock.

If you are wondering what exactly are all the mathematical equations on the tube- here is the breakdown
"SPF stands for sun protection factor which seems simple enough. The number that follows usually a 15 or 30 represents the amount of UVB protection the lotion provides. The higher the number the more the sunscreen provides. There is currently no standard measurement for UVA protection. Just to remind you that UVB rays do not pass through windows, but are the sun rays that cause skin cancer. UVA rays do pass through windows and are more responsible for aging the skin.
An SPF rating of 15 means the sunscreen blocks out 93% of the UVB rays and SPF 30 blocks out 97% of those same rays. So wearing SPF 30 doesn't mean you can stay in the sun twice as long. Always look for a suncreen that is "wide spectrum" since it will block both types of rays.
PA rankings are listed as PA+, PA++ or PA+++ with the more plus symbols the more protection from UVA rays, the rays that may cause long term skin damage and therefore age the skin." (Source1, Source2 )

I have used up almost the whole tube now - mostly during late winters. I think I can now safely present my opinion on it.
Her it goes.....

When One Lipstick turned into a Chambor Haul

You can take the addict out of makeup(my hubby-tubby does try!) but you cannot take makeup out of the crazy-a$$-addict like me! :-D

So even when I am too busy to take out time for  my beloved blog..... the thoughts are never far from my mind! So I thought I would share some pics with you for the time being....

This is the haul I did quite sometime back....... when I wanted 'only' the desert rose powder matte lipstick real bad (more like it was a lemming that refused to go!)... so when I saw this gorgeous coral/peach blush/eyeshadow duo up for grabs on purchase of 3 chambor products...I did what any makeup addict would do - hauled up on one of my favourite makeup brands- Chambor!

Does it happen to you too - you plan to purchase one thing and end up buying 3 ??

When I decide to haul impulsively like this - I usually decide on pieces I would actually use.. usually have an eyeliner ... its one of my staples- and this one was very durable and intense black..... also lip pencil in a nude colour..... goes with almost any lipstick... or even on its own.

 Pics:
Haul time!!!

NOTD: Lace up your nails in this trend !!

I just love all things feminine... Pink....pastels....bows.....hearts..... laces.....:)

You all know laces and sheers are trending right now.... I saw some lace nail-stickers online but sadly much like most avante-garde makeup products- not easily available in India....

But ..I was literally craving for this look.....Mind you this is my second attempt at nail art..I saw something like this on one blog and hence decided to try it....
So I created my own lace pattern with apparently one of the hottest selling konad plates- M57.
Also used as a base- Maybelline Colorama cafe latte, For black stamping polish- I used streetwear tiny bottle- black.

It combines 2 plate designs as shown below
M-57 Konad Plate

Step 1 - Apply base coat(I used maybelline cafe latte) - let it dry
Step 2 - Apply/stamp edge design( above right hand side)  first at the tips of your nails to create lace border.
Step 3- Apply net design in the same plate - carefully matching and placing it just above the lace border.
Is gets simpler after the first1-2 nails...... really I did it in 15 min I think... its easier than it looks.Tip- Place the stamp with the pattern on the side of the nail - match and roll+press from side to side.
Step 4- Clean the surrounding area of your nails( yeah they will get messy- with the net straying over your cuticles and beyond!)
Step 5 - Apply top coat.
I also tried to apply top coat before stamping- but it  gets smudged with the stamp edge- so only apply it at the end.

Ta Da.....here it is

Swatches:

Its not perfect but after the top coat it lasted a looooooong time and I had many-many compliments.
You can it with different bases or just use the net one if you are a beginner.

Gone in 40 seconds??? Maybelline Express Finish Nail Poish - Grape !!!

Maybelline Express Nail Polish - Grape

 Price- Rs. 200

Quantity- 10ml

 What does the company Say:
Maybelline Express Finish nail color is with quick-dry, anti-chip formula and vivid color. Its unique Control-Flow brush applies only the required amount of nail color for a smooth and even application.

With one sweep, paint the first line of nail polish up the center of your nail starting from the base to the tip. For the cleanest look, be sure to leave a small space at the base of the nail.

Then apply color to the rest of the nail with additional sweeps of polish on each side of the original line. Let your nails dry before applying a second coat.

Pic:
Maybelline Exprsee Finish - Grape

Yay's
  •  Great Colour - nice mauve which will suit most complexions
  • Good pigmentation - will give opaque colour in 1-2 coats
  • Dries fast - did not time it for 40 seconds... but close enough
 Nay's
  •  It chips off pretty quick for its price - sometimes even on the second day itself( Single Coat) Disappointing!!! I have a couple other shades and the same problem occurs in all - I don't want to compromise on lasting power for saving  a few seconds... Thank you very much!
  • Its priced twice as much as Colorama nail polish yet I find the colour range and lasting power both to be much better in the colorama range.
The Last Word:
The range looks nice with some quite interesting shades being launched although the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe they should name it gone in 40 seconds.... LOL
If you don't mind putting a durable top coat every time you put-on this one and pay 200 bucks for the trouble too ..... go ahead and purchase some. I would rather buy 2 colorama nail polishes and save me some trouble next time!! :D
